Unbundled Network Elements
(UNEs) Of COMPANY X

The following pages contain illustrations of COMPANY X's Unbundled Network Elements. The CLEC can use these diagrams to understand the relationship between the CLEC, COMPANY X and the end user.

Loop Unbundling:

The loop is defined as the piece of network originating at the CLEC collocation node and terminating at the end user Network Interface Device (NID).

Unbundled Switch - Line Port:

Unbundled switch - line port is defined as the piece of the network originating at COMPANY X's switch and terminating at the CLEC collocation node.

The switch, line port and wire to the CLEC collocation node are considered part of this unbundled element.

Unbundled Switch - Trunk Port with Line Treatment:

Unbundled switch - trunk port with line treatment is defined as the piece of the network that can be configured with line side features (e.g., PBX, ISDN).

The trunk port originates at COMPANY X's switch, connecting through the Digital System Cross Connection (DSX) frame to the CLEC collocation node. Trunk Port with Line Treatment switch unbundled elements consists of the switch, trunk port, line to the DSX, and line from the DSX to the CLEC collocation node.

Unbundled Switch - Trunk Port:

Unbundled switch - trunk port is defined as the piece of the network originating at COMPANY X's switch, connecting through the Digital System Cross Connection (DSX) frame to the CLEC collocation node.

Trunk port unbundled elements consist of the switch, trunk port, line to the DSX, and line from the DSX to the CLEC collocation node. The facilities are owned and inventoried by COMPANY X and provisioned as a UNE to the CLEC.

Unbundled Switch - Platform (UNE-P):

The platform is a series of unbundled network elements comprised of the switch, switch port and loop to the end user location. UNE-P is not available in all areas.

The facilities are owned and inventoried by COMPANY X and provisioned as UNE-P to the CLEC.

Unbundled Dedicated Inter Office Facility (IOF) Transport:

Unbundled Dedicated IOF Transport provides a two point transmission path on a directly connected basis, dedicated to the use of the ordering CLEC and its provisioning of local exchange and exchange access services. Unbundled Dedicated IOF Transport is offered where facilities exist as an individual network element, separate from bridging, multiplexing or customer reconfiguration capabilities and functions.

Transport facilities include both digital and SONET based, DS-1, DS-3, OC-3 and OC-12. For the purposes of this section, reporting troubles on dedicated IOF transport does not include any other combination of unbundled elements. This section of the document does not include information to assist in the reporting of troubles with a trunk port, which may have been leased by the CLEC in addition to the dedicated IOF transport itself.

An essential difference between the trouble maintenance of unbundled IOF elements and that of other UNEs is that Verizon monitors these inventoried facilities. As part of the regular network monitoring operations performed to ensure inter-office network availability, the Verizon Network Monitoring and Analysis (NMA) system monitors inventoried unbundled dedicated IOF. In the event that this testing discovers a problem in unbundled dedicated IOF which has been inventoried, Verizon addresses the transport problem in the same manner it addresses its own IOF.

SS7 Connectivity:

SS7 Connectivity includes Unbundled Network Elements (UNEs) to allow the CLEC to connect to a COMPANY X Signal Transfer Point (STP) via an "A" or "B/D" link.
