LANSING, July 12. The Michigan Public Service Commission
yesterday announced that it is seeking public comment on proposed electric
distribution system performance standards for Michigan's electric utilities.
The proposed standards address a number of issues, including utility reporting
requirements, electric outage and safety measurements and customer relations.
Under the Commission's proposed standards, utilities that fail to meet
minimum standards for restoring power after an outage will be required to
provide affected customers with bill credits.
Interested parties are encouraged to file comments on the proposed
performance standards by Tuesday August 21, 2001. Reply comments are
due by Friday September 21, 2001. All comments may be filed as traditional
filings or through the electronic case filings program and should reference
Case No. U-12270. Persons submitting comments as traditional filings must
send an original and 15 copies to:
