LANSING, September 27. The Michigan Public Service Commission today
approved Verizon Systems' application to provide potential customers with desired
service by extending the boundary of its Fitchburg Exchange to include a portion
of Ameritech Michigan's Leslie Exchange. The Commission concluded that approving
Verizon's August 22, 2001 application was in the public interest. Ameritech Michigan
will continue to offer service in the Leslie Exchange.
Verizon is headquartered in New York, New York and provides local telephone
service to about 786,000 Michigan customers.
Ameritech Michigan is a subsidiary of SBC Communication, headquartered in
San Antonio, Texas.
